The AutoGrid® system is usable for strain analysis of formed parts. It is based on measuring square line grids which have been applied to the surfaces using body-solid marking methods. After the forming process, stereo images of the marked surfaces are taken simultaneously with four measuring cameras. The crossing points of the square line grid are measured photogrammetrically in three dimensions from the recorded image sets.

The major application is strain analysis in sheet metal forming, e.g. of car body parts. The system is easy to operate and robust. It has been used successfully for more than two decades in press shops, tool-making, research and service facilities and by the manufacturers of the sheet metal used.
